    This session will delve into the practical strategies and partnerships available to make your festival eco-friendly. From securing public and private resources to building meaningful sustainability sponsorships, The Sustainable Events Forum (TSEF) team will equip you with the tools to fund your initiatives with integrity and avoid greenwashing.

    Natalie is the recipient of numerous awards for her work in reducing the ecological impact of events of all sizes and types. She is in the Canadian Meetings & Events Hall of fame and is the founder of The Sustainable Events Forum. Her goal is to help as many people as possible to become knowledgeable and effective climate advocates.

    • Melissa Radu, Executive Director at Destination Stewardship

    As Executive Director of Destination Stewardship, Melissa provides strategic leadership and visioning of their Tourism Master Plan, taking the 10-year strategy from paper to reality. This work is focused on destination growth and development with the goal of respecting, supporting, and improving the local and global environments.

    • Marie Zimmerman, Director of Projects and Partnerships at Regional Tourism Organization 4 (RTO4)

    Marie Zimmerman is one of the founding members of the Guelph Fab 5, a collective of local arts festivals. She has a passion for the tourism industry as well as for sustainability, education, and arts and culture, which she brings to her new role as Director of Projects and Partnerships with Regional Tourism Organization 4 (RTO4). In 2024, she was honoured with a Woman of Distinction Award for her changemaking work.

In order to keep the lights on, more and more venues are looking beyond concerts and getting creative with programming. In this edition of Live U, "Bright Ideas for Venue Dark Days: Programming Beyond Concerts," we will look at creative ways to program your room, the value of developing partnerships across diverse communities, executing your own concepts and the delicate balance of risk / reward.

  • Our final Tech Live session tackles the critical topic of legal implications arising from the integration of evolving technologies in the live music sector. As the industry embraces artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and augmented reality, new legal considerations emerge. This session will feature legal experts specializing in the intersection of technology and entertainment law. Discussions will encompass intellectual property rights, data privacy concerns, licensing issues, and other legal challenges associated with the adoption of cutting-edge technologies in live music practices. Join us for a deep dive into the legal landscape, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the potential challenges and opportunities that come with the technological evolution of the live music industry.

In this session of Live U, the CLMA partnered with "Do.Did.Will: The Story of People Podcast" to host Tamsin Embleton, author of "Touring and Mental Health: The Music Industry Manual" and founder of the Music Industry Therapist Collective (MITC).

In this conversation Brent and Tamsin reflect on the high demands of live music touring. The discussion highlights practical strategies and resources to help those working in the entertainment industry identify, process, and manage the various physical and psychological difficulties that can occur on the road or as a result of touring.

In this session of Live U, the CLMA brought together leading industry experts for a discussion on the increase in the occurrences of event cancellations and the spotlight that shines on the need to understand event cancellation insurance.
